When some friends of mine decided to visit Bangkok, they stayed at the Landmark hotel. This is a 5 star hotel situated on Sukhumvit road, close to Nana BTS station. The Landmark has a range of restaurants and bars as well as a spa and fitness centre that you would expect in any 5 star hotel. As I live in Bangkok, I have no need for the hotel rooms but they are of good quality from what I saw. One thing I am impressed with is the restaurants and bars. They have some amazing cuisines and the full range to suit all tastes. Here I will review 2 of the restaurants I have been to recently.
- The Huntsman Pub
This is in the basement and is decorated in the style of a traditional English Pub. It has a full range of traditional pub dishes such as Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, Steak and Ale Pie. There are some excellent sandwiches, salads and pasta’s and some international food including Thai local favourites. There is also a good selection of local and imported beers and a full wine list. There are big screens and a number of mini screens to show all the big sporting events, they also have a number of themed nights throughout the year. The food is of good quality and the portions are a good size. Obviously, it is attached to a 5 star hotel so it is not going to be on the cheap side but it’s definitely worth a visit. Most nights there is a live band from the Philippines that play a range of classic songs, all round a very nice atmosphere.
I have been there midweek when they have a number of drinks promotions but one of the best times to visit The Huntsman is on a Saturday evening or Sunday lunchtime. They have a Roast Buffet on these days with a range of meats, cold cuts and desserts. It’s an amazing buffet and there is also a promotion of come 4 pay 2, so go with your friends for an excellent deal. Saturday night is also sports night so all the football and rugby games are shown on the screens.
- The Atrium
Located on the ground floor with the entrance at the lobby, this restaurant offers fine dining at its best. This is a full international buffet most days for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with Brunch thrown in for good measure. As well as the range of dishes on offer there is a cook to order section, so choose what you want and see the chefs prepare it before your eyes. It really is a great selection of food, when I was there I had the most amazing tasting duck, something you will want to try.
There is also a come 4 pay 2 promotion which is very worthwhile. I also enjoyed the selection of wines there was on offer, a particular favourite of mine is the Australian Shiraz.
After visiting some of the facilities at The Landmark I decided to join their loyalty programme which I have to say is one of the best there is on offer. It cost 6,500 Baht and for that you get 35% discount on food when dining alone of 40% with another company and 50% if 3 of you and so on. You get 15% on drinks and discounts on the spa and rooms. What really makes it worthwhile are the vouchers that come with the card. A Sunday lunch voucher for 2 at the huntsman and 2 Atrium buffet vouchers for 2 people as well as vouchers for their other restaurants; you will easily get your money back in the vouchers alone.
There is something for everyone and all tastes at the Landmark so it is worth paying a little bit more for that added luxury.
